A client gave me this tub today as a gift, various Spanish coins and one Austrian Schilling whose design I had not got in my collection.

in the center of the first pic, I see 2 coins with peculiar markings around the edge. It looks like a cross between a fleur de lis and the Chinese character for tree. May I ask, what are those coins?

    Sorry, darn time zones, lol,
They are three Spanish 100 Peseta coins. 3 dates and 3 designs, wonderful

Thanks. I have a lot of Spanish coins, maybe I have some of the same ones and never looked at the edges.

I think but don't know for certain that the fleur de lis is due to the present Spanish royal family's Bourbon (i.e., French) membership. They, the Spanish royal family, used to belong to the Hapsburg family. I think the change of dynasties was the cause of the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714).
