Weighing 4.12 g. with a diameter of 14 mm. , this Seleucid coin represents Emperor Antiochus IV radiate head right. The reverse shows Zeus standing left holding wreath in outstretched hand up. ANTIOXIEON in right field, TON PROS DAFNI in left field with a possible monogram in left field M-A ? I have a similar coin but with a much bigger denomination or size, and listed under BMC 71- SNG 1008. The issue is that the small coin does not seem to be listed, at least on Wildwinds. Whatever, I'd like to read your comments on this coin. Thanks.. SMAnt 4 O.jpg SmAnt 4 R Zeus.jpg

Thank you very much C71. I didn't expect so many info from Vcoins. The coin seems to be related with Accho( Ptolemais) in Galilee circa 168-164 BC. It refers to the Jewish Revolt of Judah Maccabee who defeated the Seleukid Army. There also seems to be a tripod on monogram to left field of reverse. Hoover 689 ( R1 - 2 ). Rare..

A very cool coin, especially with the history. I really love smaller Greek coins like that and that reverse seems to be especially nice for the type.
