Is it worth going through SBA dollar coins and the gold dollars. The only thing I can think of to look for would be the 1979 wide rim SBA and the presidential dollars that are missing the letters on the edges. Is it worth it to look for them and can you find them or anything else in rolls or bags of the dollar coins.
I've searched several thousand dollars worth just for funsies but the return wasn't really worth it. I've found a few proofs, a few wide rim SBA's and some NFC stuff but nothing really that interesting.
It took 96 years for the most recent doubled die to be discovered for the Merc 10c so anything is possible. Personally, I prefer to search same-date bags for varieties and/or errors because if you find one, you are apt to find others. Chris
The bank lets me look at all of their SBAs to check for Varieties. On Saturday I found two Wide Rims in only 15 SBAs at the bank. In the past I also found a 1980 S BU. You also have no edge Presidential dollars.
look for the 2000 P wounded eagle and the Cheerios dollar. the wounded eagle is worth like a hundred and the Cheerios thousands I found a circulated wounded eagle many years ago and sold it for $177 on ebay, so it pays to look
How rare are the wide rim SBAs and the wounded eagles? Considering the prices of those two coins, I think you could make more money doing this than with halves.
I know those two are quite rare and hard to spot but I think they are similar in rarity than some of the other double dies that people look for.
My fear with dollar coins is that if you have some junk go through as a coin, such as foreign coins or other coins, your out a dollar a coin on those.
NOTE: They are NOT gold! The stupid mint calls them golden, for the color, there is no gold in them.... Just an FYI
Yes I know they are not gold, its just easier to call them that when your talking about Sacajawea dollars and presidential dollars together.
Yes, and it's easier to call a Chevrolet a Ford because it's two fewer syllables. Chris PS. It's "you're or you are" not "your".
Ane even easier to call it a car, one less letter. Course then if it is a truck, some people wouldn't even call a Ford a truck : - )
