small date?

    These are 2 bad pictures of two separate 1982 copper pennies. Can anyone confirm they are small dates? Weight is right for copper. If needed, I can take better pictures. Thanks!

    I can see the difference in the 2's from a mile away.

    Yes the small date has the very nice full 2. And the large date is the sloppy 2.

    The easiest way to tell is by the distance from the rim.

    I use that and the shape of the 2, but the distance is easiest. Note the width of the base of the 2. Could you fit the base of another 2 between that one and the rim? If yes then it is the small date. If no then it's a large date. look at the pictures BadThad posted and you can clearly see the difference in the spacing.
