This has no date but does have a D mint mark. Got it in a roll of Washington quarters for melt. Any ideas on type? No, I'm not thinking I hit pay dirt on this but it does not hurt to ask. img838.jpg img839.jpg

I lost track of a thread on these that describes the markers or design differences. This being so worn, what should I be looking for in the future? I am, by no means, any kind of knowledgeable on these in general. I never pursued them in my collecting.

    Honest question here.
If you have a dateless that's been identified as a type 1 with a D mintmark, does it matter? Would it command more of a premium than a dateless D type 2?

In this condition it's only worth melt value. Or maybe as a type coin for a beginners collection.

Is it? Or does it's weight tend to determine it's worth in silver? Even though minuscule - you think buying face value over weight is a difference maker?

Hard to say...but I'd probably say it would command a small premium. All of the Type 1's have a little more value than a "common" SLQ. In this condition, although dateless you would know for certain that it's a 1917-D if it were Type 1 and I'd say it could have a small premium over spot. But, not much.
