SLQ Error?

    I recently saw a Standing Liberty Quarter listed in an auction as being struck on a Type I planchet. Is it possible to detect a Type I Planchet once the coin has been struck? If so, how can you tell?

    It is not possible to securely identify a coin struck on a blank ("Type I planchet") if that coin is struck fully within the collar.
