Has anyone noticed a change in the turnover time from Anacs. Quite a while ago, it was sent 23 Sept and arrvied at them on 27 Sept and I came home today and asked about them and I was told they will not be finished until the first week of November, which suprised me. It seems that the previous submitions when much faster. One order was ancients and the other was 20th centure moderns. The ancients, I have no idea when we are getting back yet..
It may be because it is coming close to the holidays and the FUN Show in January. When I was actively submitting coins, I always tried to avoid this time of the year.
Back in Oct. 2019 I submitted 45+ Morgans for VAM verification and grading. Got the VAMs right. Took 5 weeks to get back to me. This was pre COVID19. I was pleased with the results. I guess I got lucky, I mean with the grades.
Pcgs went from 30 day turnaround to 45 day. That's from 6 weeks to 9 weeks. One guy I know took 11 weeks while mine took 9. They say there's just boxes of coins sitting around...
They probably were faster. There's several possible reasons for turnaround times to change, and it's quite normal for them to change. One the most common reasons is that when there are coin shows the graders go to those coin shows. And rather obviously when they are at coin shows they can't be in the office grading coins. And that means turnaround times get longer, and the more coin shows there are in a given time period, the longer they get. There have been many times when TPG turnaround times stretched to as long as 3 months, and 2 months used to be the general rule of thumb for turnaround times. But when 2020 came and coin shows got canceled, turnaround times speeded up. But now coin shows are occurring again so it makes sense that turnaround times are getting longer again. Another reason for them to get longer is when a TPG runs specials and that increases submissions and more submissions means longer turnaround times. And if you have that happen at the same time that there is an increase in the number of coins shows, the time lag is affected even more and longer than ever.
