OK, I'll admit that I'm not the most knowledgable collector out there-but I don't get this. I don't see anything special about this coin-am I missing something or is it just priced about 100X what its worth? http://cgi.ebay.com/1969S-Lincoln-P...4QQihZ004QQcategoryZ31373QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
How about 25,000 times what it is worth ? It's a $3 coin at best. The seller however is using the PCGS price guide which is known to quote outrageous and totally unrealistic prices - and he's not even using it correctly. He's quoting a price for the '69-S doubled die obverse while the coin he is selling is just an ordinary '69-S.
I don't care if it's a triple die reverse, anyone is pays $75,000 or even $25,000 for a modern cent is out of their mind IMHO.
The 1969 S DDO has like only 3 or 4 known and all came out of the same mint bag. I emailed ebay about this particular auction 2 days ago because I don't believe in defrauding the public. I emailed the seller with no reply!
Well, check out his other auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/2000P-Sagacagwe...ryZ11983QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I'm no grader but that doesn't look like an MS66 to me.
That's great...look at his spelling of Sacagawea! I don't know if this guy is insane or brilliant! BWAH HA HA!
Hmmm....I'd have to agree with GDJMSP. To be realistic, I could buy this coin with the change I have in my pocket minus a few quarters. Looks to me like he's trying to pay for his kids tuition selling coins and saving up for his new car with shipping charges....:goofer: $12.95 :goofer: haha...whatever!!!
I've been following the Lincoln cent a while now and the seller has updated their description (probably to confuse possible bidders) with the following.. I paid for $10,000.00 insurance to mail this coin to PCGS to have it graded, and PCGS, process my credit card on file to have this coin sent back to me for close to $50,000.00 insurance value. So, after they graded this coin, it exceeded the amount I'm starting my bid for.. It's PCGS policy not to charge anymore than the amount you insure the coin for to send it to them. Evidently, it was worth more than I expected. I have a copy, if you need to see it; prior to placing your bid. Will gladly email or fax a copy. I see that PCGS has probably made a type on the coins certification numbers. On the slab it reads... 2919.64/03654189 I checked the PCGS verification site and could NOT find any coins with the number 2919 on the list for the 1¢ coins. Most likely should be 2920. I proceded to do the verification using the serial number and the following comes up. Cert Verification #: 03654189 Date, mintmark: 1969-S Denomination: 1C Variety: N/A Pedigree: Country: The United States of America Grade: MS64RB So it's not a Double Die variety as it should be listed here. I guess the guy's just blowing a load of hype hoping someone will nibble.
