https://www.lsrarecoins.com/catalog...mercury-dime-pcgs-ms67fb-41494404/category/3/ This is just an MS67 Merc, and I am astonished to see it priced so high. Is this a key date that I missed? What is this going for in auctions?
While the price is fair at this point in time, this coin BARELY, and I mean BARELY is FSB. The split is hardly noticeable. I would not buy this coin unless there is a DEEP discount offered. This is a case of "Buy the coin ,not the holder".
It goes through, it's full. Let's remember that's a very deep cavity that's striking against on the anvil die. It's surprising any of these make it all the way through in their centers.
No, it isn't a key date, but in that condition it is scarce. It's called a condition rarity. Mercs higher than an MS65 grade are few and far between, especially if they are FB.
To expand and be more accurate depends on the date/mm and some are very very rare. The point I was beating around hoping for a response was that for someone to say this is just an ms 67 merc is very inaccurate
Yeah, it's NOT just an MS67 Merc. I totally agree with you, there aren't many around. Personally I've never seen one graded that high. Especially the ones issued during WW 2, as the Mint had some quality control issues due to lack of experienced personnel (many went to war).
The early dates and the 45 P are really quite crazy to come across an FB at that grade. It sounds funny but to have 27 with 8 higher (for pcgs) for that date there’s many that are much harder. I’d bet a couple of those 27 are probably the same coin too. If someone can find some of those in the wild they need to immediately go get some powerball tickets LOL
Sadly the OP tends to have more and more inaccurate and/or controversial posts, not just in this thread. I really wonder why someone would start a new thread saying this dealer has a „slightly overpriced“ coin for sale...?
I believe someone suggested to ask more about things they know about or are interested in at some point, seems like a good suggestion. There’s a few sales for the same grade that were significantly over the listed one in the last 2-3 years even without CAC, seems it would be better to do research first
They seem to wildly swing in auction by nearly a thousand dollar or more. This one is still over priced. 1930 seems to be a significant year. We've had more than a few MS67 mercs over the year and never touched this price range...either that or someone is lying to me. http://www.mrbrklyn.com/mercs.html Heritage has: Auction 1327 | Lot 3411 » Dimes » Mercury Dimes 1930 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS....(PCGS# 4979) Bid Source: Internet Service PCGS Grade MS67 Auction Ended Feb 24, 2021 Auction Archives Sold For: $3,240.00 Auction 1320 | Lot 3325 » Dimes » Mercury Dimes 1930 10C MS67 Full Bands PCGS....(PCGS# 4979) Bid Source: Mail/Fax Service PCGS Grade MS67 Auction Ended Oct 16, 2020 Auction Archives Sold For: $3,847.20
Sadly - there is no need for a personal attack. Nobody hurt you. Use the ignore feature. There is no reason to be nasty.
