you can also go to the post office and cash in unused stamps for full value.Kinda considered the same as money till used.I know in the uk thats possible hence they have the queens head on the stamps.
The U.S. post office officially stopped buying back unused postage decades ago, but if you know your local postal people well enough, some may still do it. I used to trade my discount postage for new postage stamps until my fave clerk got caught trading me for the old stamps...he was told not to do that anymore
