Hi, I do not know why I do not spend more time here, you learn a great deal.

Smallish collection with a couple of very nice coins, I was wondering at what point in value does it make sense to have a coin slabbed? Where do you send them and how do you do it? insurance, etc.?

    Thanks for your help

Check out the various web sites, each one has different requirements.
Also, to me it is not value.
For example: I have had three 1858/7 Flying eagle cents slabbed-- just to verify the varieties.

I would say to authenticate the coin like an 09 s vdb for example

i agree slab the semi and key coins or coins that may be high on the most likely to be counterfeited list.

I recommend slabbing prior to selling any coin valued at about $100 or more. Also all gold should be holdered as it is routinely counterfeited.

If you are collecting for your own benefeit with no intention of selling in the near future and you are confident in your ability to preserve the condition of your coins then salbbing is entirely unnecessary.

You slab when the value added by the slab is more than the cost of slabbing.
