Has anyone here tried this slab-renew(see ebay link below) cleaner & with what results? I have been debating trying this as I have many slabbed coin cases that are fairly scrathed up. I would like to hear some stories about it prior to buying this product if anyone has used it before. Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/SLAB-RENEW-...837?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item519ca7c1f5
I have and it works within reason. Light surface scratches are easily removed. It does buff up the entire holder though. If it's a deep one, then you are out of luck. Time to reholder.
There have been several threads on this product ( use the search box in the blue menu bar above). Also here is my post from way back on an alternative. The relatively soft plastic of slabs responds best to low micron size polish particles, and most fine scratch polishes ( especially headlight lens polish) are of this nature. Do not get the gritty paint refinishing polish, or blending polishes intended to be spray painted over. This cheap alternative from Walmart has worked very well for me, photos before and after are included. Start out very lightly and check often. Best to practice on a inexpensive slab or a air-tite(tm) capsule. http://www.cointalk.com/t48768/ Jim
Hey Jim, I did try seaching it in the blue menu box by its name but did not see any "slab-renew" threads. I did not want to go threw every thread to look for this one product reviews. Sorry. Thanks very much though on your insight, gonna try your reccomendations.
I use a plexiglass cleaner/ polisher from a glass shop. there are 2 grades, get the fine polish one. comes in an 8-10oz bottle and will last for years. it worked great on some really bad GSA holders i had and also on regular slabs. use with a touch of water and a buffing pad in a drill. i have been in the glass business for 30+ years and have found it to work great on any plastic.
