I am not a collector but I have a coin passed down to me and I am interested in finding out about it. it has a female head on one side with the initials V R either side of the neck on the head and nothing else on that side. The other side has the MODEL and FARTHING printed around the outer edge. In the middle it has 16th printed. Hence I am assuming it is a 16th of a farthing but can not tell anymore about it. Your help would be appreciated, thanks PS It is about 6 mm in diameter
Hi robbo and welcome to the forum. It's hard to be sure without seeing it, but your piece sounds like a "model coin" of Queen Victoria (VR=Victoria Regina, Latin for Queen Victoria). You can read about this interesting form of exonumia by >> clicking here <<
