The grades appear to be accurate for all, but the 43-P Jeff may be better if it is just a weak strike. I don't know. Paul, aka Lehigh96, would probably be able to tell. I can't comment on the values since I don't (actively) collect any of these. Chris
I'm thinkimg the '43 steelie is plated... at least it as that look from the photo. Many of these have been plated and sold in "war" sets.
Coming from someone who is not very knowledgeable on Lincoln cents, if it had been plated, wouldn't some of the finer details have been lost or muted? Chris
It doesn't seem to for some reason. I've bought a few of these "sets" with the '43's plated, and they look exactly like the OP's. Unfornately, I no longer own them... they sell like hotcakes at the local flea market, so I unload them for a dollar or two profit. Here's a typical example, note the reference to "replated" in the description: http://www.etsy.com/listing/100206542/1943-pds-lincoln-wheat-steel-cents-wwii
Well, this listing is really not that definitive. This person may just be lacking adequate knowledge of the coin and is unable to describe it properly, I don't know if the description is an accurate measure. Thanks,Jim! Chris
I bought one of these from a dealer not thinking about plating, sold it for two dollars profit http://www.littletoncoin.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product5|10001|24551|-1|36640|89302
Zinc cents are plated and retain all of their detail. Though it is probably true that the US Mint would do a better job at it than some other outfit. I have seen replated ones full of bubbles, but I've seen good ones too. And the OP's cent does look plated, unless it's just the photo.
Wow... $49.50 for a "reprocessed" (as they call it) set. I bought the exact same set from my local dealer for eight dollars and sold it (with just a little guilt) for ten bucks at the local flea market. Littleton should be ashamed of themselves.
