RPM No, have a doubled mintmark Yes, but it would have to be the result of a doubled die, and since with the single squeeze hubbing most doubling is restricted to the center areas of the die it would have to be some serious doubling to reach the mintmark. And with that much doubling no one is going to care about the mintmark.
Here's a nice doubled die ( ddo ) from the single squeeze era . http://varietyvista.com/09e WQ Vol 5 ATB/2018PMIDDO001 quarter.htm
Thanks for the example. I am now even happier that I stopped looking for them. I never would spot that.
"Strong extra thickness on IN GOD WE TRUST, mintmark, QUARTER DOLLAR, and AMERICA, " Really? Where? If there is any extra thickness there it is pretty infinitesimal, not something I would call "strong".
IGWT the single squeeze hiccup was shifted down to the right. I see the extra thickness compared to a regular IGWT. But not as much recognizable in everything else as everything else is generally thicker/wider than IGWT. All the notches elsewhere are very minor and easy to overlook. I wish they would just somehow use a laser to make the dies so this wouldn't happen. Though I'm sure the mathematical model wouldn't be perfect and create some other LDD - Laser Doubled Die mistake. Or just makes tons of them so they're aren't really "valuable" above a regular non single squeeze hiccup ...
They probably could if you didn't mind taking a couple days to make each die and then having surfaces with the texture of the "snakeskin" cameo seen on the modern proof dies.
these aren't proof coins or coins made for collecting, So why not ... other then the electrical bill. lol
Because if it takes two days to "cut" a die, and you need 10,000 dies a year..... And with the "snakeskin"all over you end up with coins that look like they have been all acid soaked.
Class 6 ( Distended Hub Doubling ) This is a real nice ddo . Images on coneca site, are reduced to fit the site . Can't see much there, so I'll happily supply the images . Even had Ken Potter scratching his head . Can't be explained, for now ..
Heres what I seen on one of my coins. Ill just post it. I personally think its nothing now which is why Im not bothering taking a bunch of pictures and wasting anyones time. I cant for the life of me get a decent photo today with the lighting in here. Im only showing this picture of the mint mark to explain why I asked this question in the first place.
exactly. Its got that same little "weirdness" inside the P as in the picture you posted above. I figure its nothing when its this hard to catch in a photo. coins are great little magicians at times...especially shiny ones. I cant "see" it with a plain magnifying glass which tells me its not really there on mine.
