So I get an email from SilverTowne today advertising lowered prices and free shipping on 2013 Canadian Maple Leafs. I click on the ad which takes me to their website only to discover that they are sold out. As a company wouldn't you make sure you weren't out of stock before sending out those emails?
Correct on 2 counts . . . 1st, the mass emailing gets a huge number of buyers interested all at the same time, some of which have very deep pockets, and may want to buy huge quantities. 2nd, when sending emails to very large mailing lists, the server dispatches the messages to the recipients serially, so the last recipient on a long list may not see the email until hours after the message is seen by the first addressee.
They are out of stock on a lot of stuff. I say...screw them. They want $1,431 dollars for a maple leaf. Provident metals has them for $1,352.91. That's a difference of over $75.
it may have been 7 seconds after YOU received the email but others probably got it long before you....
The email should be time stamped when it was sent and when it was received. How long did it take to get to you? (Sometimes emails can vanish for awhile. Last week I received an email sent to me as the only recipient 8 days after it was sent.)
