    ...out pops a PROOF!!! :goofer:

Actually, the proof is still in the roll! It's showing tails side at the roll's end, so there's no telling what the date on the coin is. I was wondering if I should open it up and see what date it is, or try to sell/auction the roll off a possible profit??

If it were mine I'd open it up. I found a worn 1982S proof once and it was not pretty on the obverse.
Most Kennedys look much better on the reverse.
I put it up on eBay in an airtite and a strange bidding war at auction ending caused the one coin to sell for $18.50.

    Hi npcoin,
I am lost, the s-mint mark for a proof is on the obverse what do you see on the reverse of the roll that tells you it is a proof ?

I would open the roll, but that would be more out of curiosity than profit motive. There's no telling what is inside, and I've never been a big fan of coins I can't see.

The finish of the coin. Business strikes don't have mirrored surfaces.

Doug I know but I would have to open it up to be sure, sometimes the mint just does things right and sometime wrong.

True, but not that wrong. It doesn't matter really whether the roll is opened or not - a circulated Proof found in a roll is kinda neat but it's really no big deal and would certainly not carry any additional value. Of course that doesn't mean that somebody on ebay wouldn't bid it up either.

Why not have the best of both worlds. Open it up, then wrap it back up and sell it on eBay :). Isn't that what eBay is for? Oh and don't forget to advertise it as a "tightly wrapped bank roll."

On a serious note, I think half the folks on eBay might assume you opened it even if you didn't.

    Well...I openned the roll :)

It was a 2002S Clad Proof! In the rest of the rolls, I found a 2003S clad and a 2004S clad proof as well!! So, in the $400 I searched today, I came out with a three year run of clad proof Kennedys (2002-2004). Not too bad...but no silver! :(

I did come out with ~$150 in nice BU 2001D clads. Seems ASE (Armored Security Express) dumped an old unused bag into this mix. Last bid I know of on these is only $10.50/roll, so back to the bank they go Friday! (Not the same one I got them from, of course :D )

I'll try to get some pics up of the three coins tomorrow. Time for bed now. Have work in 5 hours.

    searched $58 worth of halfs

Yesterday I drove to a small Rhode Island town. The bank had rolls of halfs but the lady in charge of them was off. Today I returned and got 5 rolls plus 16 loose ones.
    Found a 2005P, 1964, 1967 and a 1969D.

I stopped by the bank today and the teller had two 2005-S proofs and two 2004-S proofs waiting for me... how nice!

In some banks around me, the young tellers don't even know what a half dollar is. One young lady said to me, "don't you mean dollar?" and it was clear she didn't even know halves existed.
