I'm just curious if anyone has thought about searching for silver in casinos? Maybe I'm totally off base here, but I'm curious if I can go to my local casino and go to the half dollar slots (assuming they have them), hit the cash out button, collect a bunch of coins, look through em. Maybe cash em in, rinse and repeat? Just wondering. Seems like it might be possible to do much more searching than you can at a bank.
hot-slots I thought about that, but about the time I started roll searching all the casinos started using the coin-less slots. You put in paper money and when you are done it spits out a paper ticket that you cash in. It bumms me out thinking of all the times I went to vegas and played the half dollar slots without checking for silver.:hammer:
casino hunting Howdy, There are many casinos that still have quarter and half dollar machines that give you back coins. I'll normally check a few times at the very least whenever I go. However, I would caution against a wholesale checking process as it would probably bring down the heat. They want you playing, NOT putting $50 into a .50 machine, cashing out and taking the coins to the cashier, getting a $50 bill and doing it repeatedly. If you think airports now have tight security, they're pikers when it comes to casinos. EVERYTHING you do is on tape. I still check though. teehehe ;-) While on the subject of casinos, over the years, I've created quite a collection of dollar casino tokens. These are from vegas and a myriad of indian reservation casinos. Indeed, every trip to vegas, I'm always looking for new tokens - or even token sets like some casinos have. Often you can go to the cage and buy 'mint state' versions of their tokens. You have to ask and see what they are using. This is sort of like penny smashers. I'll be damned if I can pass one by without smashing a penny - at least for every variety offered. ;-) On a trip to Disney World, I took a roll of new pennies and a roll of quarters and went nuts. peace, rono
Just got back from Reno, they still have coin in some of the gambling casinos. I went through a thousand dollars of Keenedy halfs found absolutely nothing, silver just may not exist any more in casinos but you could just about fill a album with all the different dates. Victor would just love Reno he could go through all the rolls of halfs they had and have no silvers witch bank tellers to give him a hard time
The problem with silver coins in slot machines is the same as with vending machines. They don't work. These machines check the electronic signature of the metals in a coin before accepting it and they're all set for cupro-nickel now.
About 5 years ago I was in Reno and one of the casinos had a slot machine that would give up to 3 Peace Dollars if you hit the right combination, but if you hit the jackpot you would get a gold bullion coin. Got me 5 Peace Dollars and I don't want to remember how much it cost me. But it was fun. Lou
Crispy, You will after Victor sees this post he has more trouble with bank tellers then any one I no it's like they are gunning for him. And thats to bad because he's a nice guy I have traded with him and he is always nice.
