Its says on the back "from the private treasuty of richard b. herman and on the front "500 grains sterling silver, 1971"
Hi Abdul and to the forum. I've moved your inquiry to the proper forum for that type of post. You have what is referred to as a "silver round", which is not a coin, but a privately produced medallion. I'm not familiar with Richard Herman, but such pieces normally sell at or near their silver metal value. 500 grains is an unusual size, as rounds are typically produced with exact weights of 1 troy ounce, or some fraction or multiple of that weight. Since sterling silver is generally accepted to be .950 fine, that would make the actual silver weight of your piece 475 grains, which is .937 of a troy ounce, or 1.03 ounces av. At Friday's closing market price, the bullion value is $6.82. A dealer would buy at a discount from that price, or sell at a small premium above the price.
Oops. Gotta remember to put mind in gear before engaging keyboard with fingers. That chops 18¢ off the BV.
