Silver Quarter Dollar w/microchips? 1964

    Are those black things imbedded into the coin?

    They look like surface mount microchips - a technology that was invented decades after that quarter left the mint.

    Yes, they are embedded. I've looked closely and I see no seam or glue? Aren't those weird?

    It appears to me someone glued small plastic pieces to the coin because they thought it would look unusual. It does, but people do a lot of things to coins. They don't look embedded from the photos.

    Sorry have to agree with Cloudsweeper on this one, from the pictures they do not look embeded but I do not have the coin in hand but it is interesting looking none the less.
