I recently responded to a CT question about the frequency of errors in mint and proff sets, stating that I had indeed discovered an unusual erroe in my 2003 Silver Set - the reverse of the Missouri quarter to be exact. First off, my apologies for the clarity. Photography - through plexiglass no less - is not a forte of mine so let me describe what may not be visually apparent. There is a dentate arc that begins about midway above the woods on left. It then imprints on the zero in 1804, the letter "O" in CORPS, the "M" in Missouri and ends on the rim above the "M". I cannot see any feature on either side of the quarter that even vaguely resembles the dentate shape of the arc - perhaps something extraneous entered this otherwise closely monitored minting process. The expert at Numismatic News could only speculate on the cause(s) of this oddity. Two immediate questions for the CT community: 1) Any precedent known? and, 2) Is it worth cracking the case and having it validated and graded by a TPG. My thanks in advance.
You know,,,,when you look at the coin that way.....looks like a toilet seat with a pipe in the wall the blew the fudge out!
I submitted these images seeking mature comment and not 3rd grade doody-poopie humor. Does your Mom known you're using the computer?
