I've been holding off on buying a Dansco Album for Presidential Dollars until I find out if there will need to be a fourth space for every President.

I have heard there is a possibility that the Government might mint silver Presidential proof dollars. Would anyone have information on this possibility?

Edit: Sorry, meant Proof, not Prood in title.

Gary,if there were Proof Presidential Dollars, they would be struck in the same metal as both the Sacagawea & currency Presidential Dollars.I think it is only State Quarters that get silver Proofs struck.

Silver or not, these coins will still be the most ugly coins I've ever seen produced.

Since the enabling legislation specifies the same composition as Sacs, there will be silver proofs if, and only if, a new Act of Congress requires or permits their issuance. Don't hold your breath!

If ND86 is right, and he probably is, there will be proofs of these included with the silver proof sets. However, they will still be normal composition, not silver.

There has been speculation about these ever since the mint conducted surveys last November. Well it is now the end of March and there still have not been any bills introduced in Congress seeking to authorize the production of silver president dollars. And the more time that passes the less likely we are to see silver dollars this year. And if we don't see them this year then I very strongly believe we should not see them in later years because the set could then not be completed since they can't strike pre-dated coins. (Unless of course they write THAT provision into the law as well.)
