Does any member have any information about the Silver Krugerrand pieces that occasionally turns up on Ebay? I have provided a description of the piece that I have in my collection,which is as follows; The reverse is inscribed as 'KRUGERRAND COMMEMORATIVE' with the dual dates '1967-1983'.It has the same reverse design as the South African 5/- crown of 1947-59,the 50c. crown of 1961-64,& the following pieces; 1 Krugerrand (1967-). Half Krugerrand (1980-). Quarter Krugerrand (1980-). & One-Tenth Krugerrand (1980-). The inscription,'ONE TROY OZ .999 FINE SILVER' appears above the springbok. The obverse inscription is 'STEFANS JOHANNES KRUGER',which is actually an error for Kruger's name,which is 'Stephanus Johannes Paulus Kruger'.The portrait itself is similar to that on the gold Krugerrand & its fractions,as it is in very high relief,which is very unlike the portrait on the South African Republic 1892 5/- crown,which has 2 varieties -the 'Single Shaft' type (which I have got),& the famous 'Double Shaft' type, which is also called a 'Disselboom',which is from the Afrikaans.I do not have this one,but a late friend of mine had both types in his collection, which is being sold off at auction next year in Australia.The late friend was the Immediate Past President of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand,Mr W.H.(Bill) Lampard,F.R.N.S.N.Z..He was one of New Zealand's greatest numismatists who will be sadly missed. The piece has a milled edge.Interestingly,there is no reference to South Africa anywhere on the piece. I have seen pieces dated 1982,1983,& 1986 appear on Ebay.The 1982 & 1983 ones always turns up,but the 1986 one very seldom turns up.Does anyone know of any other dates?
