For the past year or so, I've put together three sets of Kennedy half dollars which include the P, D, S and matte coins. Now I'm considering adding the Silver Kennedys that start in 1992 through 2006. The 1995 and the 1997 silver Kennedys sell for roughly $100 a piece. Why the 1996 sells for about half of that, I can't figure. Might these coins start falling in price soon or do you think they will just keep going up? My question is: Is there a way to buy these as a lot rather than one at a time? Does anyone know of a source other than ebay where I might buy all 15 coins at the same time?
IMO the best time to buy a coin is yesterday (as far as price goes) I would start hunting for sets, they come up every now and again, but it takes a lot of the fun out coin collecting (the hunt) IMHO
I have searched ebay and found 15 coin sets for as little as $599.00 to $629.00. All slabbed by PCGS and graded at PR69 DCAM with a nice little case to hold the slabs. So for $1800.00 I could get all three sets I need but I generally don't buy slabbed coins and I could probably find each coin more cheaply if I bought them individually over time. Or could I? The cost of having 15 coins slabbed is considerable so this seems like it might actually be a deal when you consider that you could spend as much as $450.00-$500.00 for the coins alone. What to do? :desk: What to do? :desk: What to do? :desk:
I searched my extras for another 2000-P but it wasn't a year and mint mark I had trouble with so I didn't save any extras I could have sent you. Sorry!
I would lean toward buying the set. It's tough to put this sort of thing together one at a time and match the grade and the TPG. That's worth at least a little premium to the raw coins which may or may not ever grade out to PR69 when you buy them one at a time. If getting a super high grade isn't a goal, then I'd pass.
Jim I have a few extra that are circulated but they do look nice if you won't one PM me it yours my gife to you.
