Silver in pocket change...almost

    I bought a coffee at dunkin donuts and got a 1944-p nickel as change. I got happy for a second then realized its the non silver variety :p

    All 1944s have some silver in them.

    Yes. All 1943-1945 nickels are 35% silver. the 1942 nickels are the ones that have 2 metal compositions. All you have to look for is the large mint mark on the reverse above monticello, then you know you have a war nickel.

    This is the only thing it could be if it's not a war nick... I'd rather find a henning than a war nick any day.

    Just a few days ago I won a 1944 Nickel with out the Letter "P" on top of Monticello. I believe it's a counterfiet but its a Hennings coin.

    I made a typo.. I meant to write 1942 p. what is a henning btw?

    Pre-waar nickels also carry a slight premium on them, so don't be too disapointed.

    I've never received anything pre-WWII in change but I'm a dork and anything prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor would make my day (7 Dec 41).
