Wish I had also won the other one darn it! Looks like 3 are clad and 3 are silver. My 2010 Standard Catalog lists them each at $20. Silver was around $17.50 at that time. it's at $32.04 today, and I got (if it IS only 3 silvers) 2.5227 oz silver for 11.10GBP, which was $17.87USD. For two and a half oz. silver? Wish i'd not run to the store so I could've got em both! Ok, anyone see something I missed here? http://www.ebay.com/itm/220903666585?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

LOL! even the ones clearly stating on the package they are silver? It does say silver in the title and description... My Standard Catalog only gives weight for silver ones.... will have to see the edge to be sure. What leads you to believe all are not? I ask because I'd like to be aware. And thanks!

Where does it say silver on the auction, did confuse with silver jubilee? Those coins are copper-nickel.

Also, "Silver Wedding Crown" And I guess since they were all made of both clad and silver content, I thought that was being distinguished in the title. I guess I expect sellers to be as ethical as I am when I do an auction. OH well, at worst, they're around $15 worth of coins, and the extra money I spent will be used in seeing the girlfriend's face when she asks, "So who do YOU know in England?"

The seller wasn't being unethical, they simply stated the events that the coins were a commemoration for.

I have two of the Churchill ones as pictured. They are CuNi, worth about $3 each in unc. The edges show no clad.

Using the 2010 Standard Catalog of World Coins. Oddly, it only gives weight for the silver coins. Which is to say I guess, that if the coin is a different weight than the one in the book, it is clad. The two coins, silver and clad, would have to have different weights if the size match right?

This is interesting. Why wouldn't they show it on the edge like ours do?

I see that now, but I will maintain that it should have been more clear on the metal content. Oh well, no big deal and I'm still a happy camper. :)

Yea, the seller may have been relying on the word "silver" and lack of a more detailed description to get a better price. Unfortunately that happens all the time, but it can't be proven if it's unethical or honest ignorance.
The price you paid is very much fair for the group. Having the matching plastic holders increases the value a bit as well.

PS: The cladding does not show on the edge because these coins are made of alloyed copper-nickel, rather than separate layers of copper and nickel like US coins.

ah, I see. Do you happen to know the proper weight for a clad one, since my book only gives weight for silver?

None of them are actually clad, but the weight should be just under 28.3 grams for the Churchill ones. I'd have to go back and weight the others, but if you are worried about authenticity I think you're safe. Never seen any fakes of these.

You may want to grab the latest Krause online or use online version (http://secure.numismaster.com/ta/numis.jsp) In that catalog these are copper nickel.
