I have a 2004 Silver Eagle in the capsule and the mint flip top box. What I am curious about is that it is completely frosted, unlike the few others I have. Quite a nice looking coin. Does that make it special or not? Thanks for your help

There are so many variations on the ASE theme that a picture is really needed.

  4. It’s probably a proof. Pics?

The coin that you have sounds like a burnished uncirculated version.

It comes directly from the Mint in a box and capsule, but resembles the circulation strike coin.

If you look at the reverse of the coin, you should see a W mint mark.

Can we see a picture to confirm?

  7. If it’s a 2004, it cannot be burnished. That program started in 2006. It’s likely a proof. TC

good point, TC. You're exactly right. I sit corrected.

I still think that a picture is the best way to solve the problem

No "W". No mintmark at all. The whole coin is burnished, high points and background.. Gotta get camera batteries. Will post some poor quality pics tonight. Thanks for your help gang. Here is a pic that looks like mine to me that I found on the internet.

if it is a normal strike, I suspect that someone placed it in a proof box and capsule after having removed the proof coin.
