I think I have a silver 1959 dime. Could this be? If so, is it rare? The edging is all silver color, no trace of copper on the edge at all.
Yep, it's silver. Dimes were silver through 1964. They switched to a copper/nickel clad composition in 1965. It's not rare.
Howdy Franciethis - Welcome to the Forum !! Sure it could be, people find them all the time. Is it rare, no - but it's still a neat find. And it's worth more than a dime, it's worth it's silver content - approx 90 cents.
In other words,it is worth 9 times the face value, which is what Doug was meaning.By the way, welcome aboard. Aidan.
