silver coin removal

    I have a desk pen set the clear plastic stuff embedded is a pretty nice 1964 kennedy half any way to get that out without damaging the coin .... only have one chance on this so if there are some ideas would be open to not reinventing the wheel here...

    Why remove it? You can get a ms 64 Kennedy for $10 with shipping.

    Yeah, it's worth more as a desk set.

    It would probably be impossible to remove the coin from the acrylic without damaging it. Buy another!

    You have a conversation piece right now. If you try to remove the coin, then you'll just have a coin for your junk box.

    Use a band saw to cut away as much of the plastic as possible then using tongs immerse it in liquid nitrogen. The vastly different contraction rates of the plastic and the metal will cause the plastic to break up. If needed remove from the nitrogen and tap with wooden mallet. The plastic will shatter.

    Is it worth doing? Almost certainly not. I'd use it as a desk set.
