Hello - can you advise the value of these 3 silver certificates?

    $1 1899 Black Eagle, $1 1935A and $5 1934D

My friend inherited them and we're finding there is too much to know. A coin dealer said the Black Eagle is in very good condition with a small pin hole. And can anyone tell me the significance of "backplate" numbers?

    Thank you for your assistance!

Someone will be along shortly otherwise I'll give you an answer around 6 when I get home. Hard to tell condition on my blackberry. Guessing between $150 to $250 fo the BE and less than $30 each for the other two. I will be able to give a better answer at home. The back plate number may be important to identify a plate that was not intended to be used with this run. Again I can tell you more when I get home! I am a big fan of the Black Eagle - it's a great note to own!

Thank you Darryl for your quick response. No hurry, I'll be out tonight, so if I don't respond this evening, thank you so much in advance!

The $5 is the wide variety which is identified by the back plate number less than 2007 and value is around $10-$15.

The $1 is the last group of A's again identified by the back plate number and is worth about $8

I believe the Black Eagle is right where I guessed - about $200. Some issues like the ding in the top edge, horiz. creases, corners, and reverse condition along the top may even bring that down a little. On ebay you would probably do better as I think in hand the things I mentioned may hurt the value.

    Hope that helps
