I'm very confused with the red book's values for certain things. My copy puts a 1934 $10 silver certificate for 4000 bucks... yet they sell for 30-80 on ebay... anybody got any reasoning for this?

A 1933 $10 Silver Certificate is worth thousands. A 1934 cert is fairly common.

Perhaps you have the dates confused.

i actually read the book incorrectly... i was looking at a value for the 1934 europe and africa notes (where the 1934-a are the more regular issues, the 1934 is worth mucho)

    Thanks for the responce

Not much over $1.00. My Coin Prices lists a VF at $2.50

A 1934 North Africa note is using a plate in 1942 through 1945 that was already obsolete in 1936.

That's why it's rarer and more expensive than a 1934 A, which was the current plate during World War II.
