I am having trouble trying to determine if this silver coin is a Roman Sestertius Antoninus Pius AD 143-144 or a Marcus Aurelius AD 172 or something else. Any ancient experts out there that can give me some insight on this coin and the approx. value ? Thanks much, Dave
Umm, if it's legit, then my guess it's probably an Antoninius Pius AR Denarius ... but sadly, my batting-average is slightly below 400 ... and now that I look at it even closer, it's probably just "glare" that's makin' it look like it's made of silver (man, looks like I fell for another slider!! ... *rats*)
Looks good to me as well. Here is the likely attribution: RIC 287 Marcus Aurelius Denarius. Dec. 173 - June 174 AD. OBV: M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXVIII, laureate head right REV: IMP VI COS III, Victory advancing right, carrying trophy & wreath. RIC 287
awesome ... sounds like Mat & Bing are on-board (it's always nice to hear that our cool coins are legit and that our hobbie is less fragile than it seems at times ... bad sentence)
