    Hi everyone,

I am hoping you all can help me. My grandfather just recently passed away, and my grandmother (who is 92) wants nothing to do with the coins that he had collected. Before we take them to any coin collecting shops or attempt to sell them online, we want to make sure we know the approximate value of the coins -- any help would be greatly appreciated.

Silver American Eagle coin, year: 2000, in Littleton Coin Company packaging. Uncirculated condition. We have 15 of these. [IMG]

Silver American Eagle coin, year :2001, in Littleton Coin Company packaging (though these are horizontal, the 2000 was vertical). Uncirculated condition. We have 3 of these. [IMG]

Silver American Eagle coin, year: 2012, in individual airtight plastic. We have 3 of these.

Silver American Eagle coin, year: 1996, in plastic pouches which say Littleton Coin Company, but they are discolored so I'm guessing not airtight. We have 4 of these.

Silver American Eagle coin, year: 2007, in a plastic inside of a plastic pouch. Not discolored but not as shiny as the airtight ones. We have 1 of these.

    Thank you in advance!!!

The 1996 Silver Eagles are a key date. You can get between $40-$50 dollars for them. The rest of the Eagles are common, and are worth their silver. The 1921 Morgans are worth about $15 each, it is the most common of the Morgan dollars.

Thanks so much. So the Silver American Eagle coins are 1 oz - so expect about $15 for all of these?

Also is the best bet for us to go into a coin store or would it be better to post these online somewhere?

Yes. As far as selling them, the 96's you might do better selling on eBay. The '21 Morgans and common Eagles you would probably be better served bringing to a local coin store, as long as they will give you spot for your coins. Just remember, between eBay and Paypal, the seller pays about 12-13% in fees.

that's true - the fees are quite high for that and often the people forget about that. I agree to Gregg702... good luck for your sale
