Yep, it is a shame, but it was a common practice in those days.
Still, a good buy for someone.

 

To me, the initials make it even more attactive, especially since it is so obviously well worn. It adds a whole lot of character. I still don't understand why everyone gets so up in arms over things like that. I would be bothered if it were AU or something like that.

Oh well, I have to get back to running the world .....

 

Looks almost like the letters are raised. Good price for a G-6ish coin.

Yeah, I think it's still a decent buy. Heck, they're in the fields of the coin. Just buy that sucker and grind those initials off!
