Not so. The use of gloves is GREATLY discouraged. What "Shrews" is shown doing IS the recommended method. The use of gloves reduces grip sureness and dexterity and the risk of dropping a coin is GREATLY increased. All responsible sources advise against using gloves.

White cotton gloves please. Oil on your fingers will be transferred to the coin even if you wash and dry them first. But hold them over something soft in case of dropping them. Great looking coins.
