You didn't have to insult the entire culture on that, but yea, it's fake.

1904 GB India 1 rupee. This is what I call a "contemporary counterfeit". It appears to have been circulated quite a bit way back when. 1904 India 1 r obv.JPG 1904 India 1 r rev.JPG

Here is a 1791 Zeeland VOC duit which looks so totally different from any other one I have seen that I just have to assume it is counterfeit. 1791 Z VOC 1 d obv (2).JPG 1791 Z VOC 1 d rev (2).JPG

Unless it is significantly underweight, it's probably just a genuine coin struck from locally made dies rather than those produced in Europe. That would also explain why the main design looks normal and the date numerals are wonky. The makers were not familiar with western numerals. Definitely cool variation though :)

OK, here is a 1972 Thai 5 baht coin which weighs 10 grams, and I believe it to be counterfeit. According to Numista:

"The coin was massive counterfeited at the time, leads to withdrawal in 2520 (1977). There are more than 3 types of counterfeit, from pewter alloys to copper-nicker-zinc alloys, weight from ~7 gr to ~10.4 gr."
