Found this in a roll today! That is thick crusting around the date area. My question is, should I attempt to remove some of it to see if an S mm is hiding underneath? The value is almost nill in this condition and I don't have a 1910-S in my collection.
You're not going to find an "S". It would be about the same height as the date, and the date is very visible. Chris PS. You can use the "Thread Tools" at the top right of your first post to correct the spelling of "Should".
You can attempt to conserve the coin starting with the least aggressive conversation method and increase. It won’t be more than a details coin but worthwhile as a filler until something better comes along (assuming an S can be established).
