Yes I know what your thinking and i really don't like the idea of cleaning coins but.......

Would cleaning it make it a decent hole filler or is it already too far gone? ( It was an ebay gamble on horrible pictures. )

It looks like it is too far gone to me.

Cleaning it would not help the corrosion.

You know there's something that I always wanted to try, Or maybe somebody has done and knows the result. On a piece like this or with alittle more detail with the corrosion, would making it an every day pocket piece take the corrosion away? I may have to find a nice example to try it with if no one has tried it

Might as well clean the reverse, can't make it any worse than it is.

The coin shows severe verdigris. VERDI-CARE™ would remove the light to moderate verdigris and shrink the down the severe stuff. The only way to remove the thick verdigris would be by using strong acid. Removal of the severe verdigris by chemical means would result in an even more displeasing coin IMO. You would certainly lose some detail and have deep pits.

    Thanks for the info.

I would try the pocket piece idea but I can almost guarantee that I would lose the coin.

I never tried Verdi Care before but from what I've read it seems to leave a "protective" residue on the coin. Anyone know if this is true? And if so is it able to be removed?
