I collected 1 of Every Note and Coin released in Iraq as to the new Currency http://www.cointalk.com/forum/members/dctjr80/albums/265/ , but with times being tight I know this could draw in about $40 USD or so. I do not expect them to go up much in currency value, and if they do I know they will issue a new currency and obsolete them, but I keep feeling that if I sell my collection that they may end up valueble in the sense of a collectable in say 20-40 years. Being that they were really well made and issued during a war. So my question is should I sell them for money now in my pocket and if I do will I kick myself in the future. But also again I know that Large quantities of all these notes and coins were brought here for people to buy. So will they not be collectable than in the future? I am split 50/50, but I do need/want money LOL :headbang:
if you need the money, by all means trim the items you no longer want. By being split about keeping them, i would say you dont really like or want them any longer. Iraqi dinars will never reach prewar us/iraqi conversion levels. At least not in our lifetime (just my opinion) so keeping them because you think they may jump in value - well, i dont think that will happen. But i never really thought collecting world currency because it will gain in value is ever a good idea. Most countries want to keep their currency stable, with a little bit of inflation - which means the currency loses value. At best Iraq will stabilize their currency, which i think they already have. good luck with your decision
