Should I get a 2010 proof silver eagle?

. . . I just don't know. Is it worth picking one of these up? Will the price go anywhere?

Well, they weren't minted last year, and for these to start up again, even though they will be expensive, they will bring a good premium in the future. I'm buying one!

This is the best reason in the world to make any numismatic purchase. I seldom worry about the future value, or if it's currently trendy. If I like it, and am happy with the price (and it's in my budget), it's on it's way to my collection!

I have purchased five. Although I'm not sure why, they are selling on ebay for over $50/ea plus shipping. Why would you buy them on ebay at $50, when you can buy them directly from the mint for $45.95?

 

Pre order MS70 Proofs are being sold for over $125 I see. I'll send mine in for grading and see what I get. I only collect PF69s because I don't think the diff between 69 and 70 warrants the price.

 

Don't want to start a new thread for this so:
I put in a subscription for 1 2010 proof eagle. Why is it showing me that I have a 2011 subscription?

 

Yes, mine says the same thing on the subscription page. On the track order page, it indicates that I have 5 A.E. Silver Proofs that are backordered with an expected ship date of 11/21/10. I'm assuming that they will ship the 2010 A.E. silver poof on that date. I guess that I'll be looking closely on the 21st. You know what assuming can do.

 

I think the mint has a cutoff date for the 2010 subscription. I'm not sure what that date was but you might have missed it and it's showing that you have a subscription for 2011. However you can still order the 2010's starting Nov. 19th.

 

Siwash, unless you like collecting proofs as sets from the mint I say pass. Not an good investment vehical. Collect 'em 'cause you like 'em......

 

I ordered 2 of them. If you are looking to collect a complete set, you'll need this one as well. Too bad there's a hole in the set for 2009. I've been debating whether to get one of those 2009 proofs that were struck on 2009 uncirculated coins. They look really great and will fill the hole, but probably never be worth much, but you never know.

 

When I put the subscription in it said 2010. Just the other day it had 2010 cause I had forgotten whether it was the 18th or 19th. I just noticed the change today.

 

The US EAGLE will be one of the most valued sets ever. No matter what, buy each issue and then some.

 

check your 'track order'. mine shows 2 2011. Also shows 2 that are back ordered with an option to cancel. Both dated 11/5.
I had two separate subscriptions, cancelled both, then ordered 2 subscriptions (single order) in order to save on postage.

Edit add: now I'm all confused.

 

i just think it says 2011 subscriptions under your subscriptions because the 2010 is in the process of being fulfilled. my order just say: A.E. SILVER PROOF . it doesn't have a year. so i am confident i will be getting my 2010's

 

I got a notice today from the mint that they have back ordered my set and that it should ship on 19 November 2010. Since I doubt they will have a 2011 ASE proof ready on 19 November, I'm guessing that it is the 2010. Again, I will be checking closely on the 19th. I've been waiting for this one for two years. It is almost as big as the Lincoln Chronicles set.

 

I also got the same email from the mint today.
