You have shipping options. When you list your item, you are asked to complete your shipping instructions. How did you want to ship ? FEDEX ? UPS ?

Just follow the listing instructions. If this is your first time selling & shipping, it's always wise to add a signature confirmation. It's not expensive compared to what your cost would be if mis-delivered or just plain lost. Usually, I ship USPS 2-3 day delivery and it runs about $7.00 with ins and signature confirmation. If you need other help, someone here will assist you. Good luck.

I do not and would not use priority mail nor would I have signature confirmation (unless your coins are >$200). I use first class with delivery confirmation which I can get on line for less than $2.00.

BTW, confirmation is pretty much required from eBay for everything, signature confirmation required when >$250. However, only delivery conformation enables tracking.

Thanks for the help everyone. I was just trying to figure out how much work and money would be involved after the auction ends on ebay

The signature thing never happens on our mail. They just drop it off.

My opinion is that you always want to insure your package via USPS when shipping or when buying! It's worth the extra cost, and it has happened to me that they lost a package i won at an online auction with a total value of $3,600. It took bit to recover my loses, but without the insurance i would have been out a ton of money. Insurance all the way!

As far as parcel service USPS first class work well for me (I buy from 10+ auctions a week and every auction house ships the same way no matter what the coins are valued at).

I use 1st class parcel post in a padded envelope (Duck envelope 10pk walmart) with delivery confirmation. All together cost less than $2.50
I would insure it also if it is $50 or greater.

For eBay protection your mailing MUST have confirmation. Delivery confirmation for amounts less than $250, signature confirmation if over $250.

Low value items that weigh less than 13 oz can be sent first class. Over 13 oz it is cheaper to send them Priority mail.

Insurance is up to you and how much risk you are willing to carry personally. Myself, I am willing to risk (self insure) up to about $150 and save the insurance fee. Over that I will buy insurance on first class or Priority mail.

For high value items, over about $700, it is cheaper to send it by Registered mail. It is also safer. Insured mail disappears at a rate 1000 times as often, maybe more, than Registered. Even though it is so safe you will still have to get the signature confirmation. Ebay does not recognize the registered mail signature.

The more the package is worth the cheaper Registered mail becomes. Also insured mail can not be insured for more than $5000. Registered mail can be insured for up to $25,000. As an example of the cost difference, a priority mail package insured for $5,000 costs $51.70 A Registered mail package insured for the same amount cost $21.40
