    Hello again everyone -
I just talked to the US Postal Service and to eBay about this but I thought it was worth asking about here too.

For those of you printing your own shipping labels for those little 000 padded envelopes - have you had any trouble reducing the size of the label so it will fit on the envelope? Meaning, has the Post Office had any trouble scanning the barcode? I just sold a couple of things on eBay (not coins) and got to use their label-printing service for the first time; it worked fine but the label printed out about the size of a half sheet of paper, 5.5" x 8.5". That size label did fit on the box I was shipping but I know it will be too big for an 000 envelope, so I tried calling the USPS to ask them. The person I talked to could find information only for Express or Priority Mail labels, which doesn't help if I'm sending something another way (like First Class). Since I got the labels through eBay and will probably use them again (their service is free) I next tried calling them about it and the Customer Service person there, after checking with his supervisor, said reducing the label size would be fine. But the USPS is the one who has to read the barcode, so I thought I'd ask here as well.

I don't have a way to get to the local Post Office so the fact that the mail carrier can pick up packages from this house has been really helpful to me. I just don't want to give them something that they're going to refuse and send back, days (or more) down the road. If you have any experience with this and would care to share it that would be great.

    Thanks!

    Meg
