Does anyone have experience shipping Silver Eagles to the UK? I am looking to ship a tube of 20 to a friend and was wondering about the best way to do it. Don't want any surprises along the way.

Also, he will be shipping some Morgan Dollars to me. Any suggestions about receiving those?

    Thank you.

A priority flat rate small box would cost about $25 and get there rather quickly. And I suggest, since it's between friends, that you mark "gift" on the customs form to avoid any import fees

Thank you for the response. My concern was about any duties that would be imposed upon the receiver, and your suggestion addresses that. Thank you.

Any hints/suggestions/concerns for him sending the 16 Morgans to me?

Don't know as I've never shipped from the UK to the US.

First time I shipped overseas I went to the USPS and let them do all the work with the forms and such - now that they showed me how to do it and what forms to print out I can ship from home without a problem.

Anything that is taxable, like what silver is and over about £19 including postage, is subject to 20% VAT and also (I think) 9% duty. If UPS or whomever has to collect the tax from the recipient then there is also a fee for that.

Some shippers in the US will allow you to prepay all the relevant taxes when you pay for the shipping.

If you're shipping to the U.S. there are no import duties (I think unless you go over $10,000).
