Well probably all shield nickels are one variety or another and some are just plain fun to find. So today I added another DDO obverse shield nickel to the collection today. Nothing fancy just a plain coin - at first I thought it was a FS 3.9 from the cherry pickers guide, but from the obverse picture you can see the first 8 does not touch the ball. Plus if anyone knows the variety(either coin) I would be interested in the information. Now the 1883 was really cool. I guess die lapping removed the arrow shaft on the right. The motto is also chunky - see this on several 1883's but I am not sure what caused it. I also like the filled 8.
Nice pick-em-up Mark. One o' these days I've got to add a couple o' these to my collection. I've always admired the design.
