Good job, Wankler! Now if only one of us had the courage to do this with "Looks all good to me." (pjd1966).
I totally agree with you and so does any knowledgeable numismatist, but, I hope you have a good attorney. Your heart is good but your plan is open to a lawsuit. It would be necessary for you to have absolute proof that what you say is true in order to protect yourself from a defamation lawsuit for a 6 or 7 figure settlement. That's going to be tough when grading is only a matter of individual interpretation of grading standards. Everyone has a right to interpret them any way he chooses. This is pretty serious and I think getting banned from Ebay is the least of the problems that you could face. -------------------------------------------------- Update: I see that you have deleted a paragraph from your auction. That's better....
Went to Auction Loved your Auction Placed in my watched items Am thinking about sniping it The photos you included with this auction are even clearer than some of the other photos I have seen posted on eBay. I believe this was an Auction with MULTIPLE winners. Am I correct? Good Luck Freedom of Speech
It's the $2 for insurance that seems a little steep. Are you trying to make up for low bidding with mandatory high insurance cost?? ;-)
Since it is his opinion vs. their opinion, I would hope freedom of speech would enter in to the equation, although obviously eBay doesn't have to honor that in a bogus auction. I know of one web site operater http://www.hardocp.com who offered a very negative and public opinion about a particular company's product, and when the company attempted to sue him he won and is now recovering his time and legal fees as well, all based on the fact that he offered his opinion and was not making false claims. These things are closely monitored by journalists and others who publish. Also, they won't spend hundreds of thousands in legal fees if they don't think they can recover an of the money they "win" in court. And lastly if they did sue somebody over their opinion, it would most likely be a public-relations disaster that would basically advertise any shortcomings their products might have.
Thanks all. Yes, it was your first post that made me go back and edit my page. But I feel I am in the free and clear now, other than maybe some kind of slap in the hand. There is plenty of proof out there. The questions from buyers are great. To answer ones question on this forum, I hope my avatar does it for ya!
Begging pardon, but I noticed just now that the auction has ended. IIRC, this was a ten-day auction, but it ended after only 24 hours. Wankler, did you end it or did eBay end it? Or, if the item has been purchased, can you relist it or another just like it? FWIW, an SGS clone (CRC = "Certified Rare Coins") slabbed coin graded MS-67 I bought on speculation came back from PCGS graded AU-55. Bit of a downgrade, eh?
I cut the informational auction down to one day to test the waters. I had a great response from people on it. Maybe saved one guy from going through on two bids placed on SGS coins worth 1K. It is up again, lets see what happens. I will be happy to add any info anyone may feel it useful.
