You say that as if the others aren't making any money by slabbing and grading coins. They have their useless ones too (read: first strike, etc.) and to be honest, there's nothing magical about putting a coin in a slab and assigning a subjective grade to it. I'm surprised there aren't 1,000's of people doing this.
Is There Anyone In This Forum That Can Tell A Describable Difference Between A Ms69 Coin And A Ms70 Coin? This Seems Like Splitting Hairs To Me. Shame On Ngc And Pcgs For Getting Into The Business Of Merchandising With The Big Money Dealers.
Actually, for me that's easier than distinguishing between 63/64, 64/65, etc. IMHO an MS70 is absolutely perfect under 5x magnification - perfect strike, zero rim dings, bag marks, rubs, hairlines or spots, with unbroken luster; while an MS69 is perfect to the naked eye, but has exactly one defect under 5x - still a perfect strike with zero rim dings, bag marks, or rubs; but perhaps a tiny luster break, hairline or spot. :smile
Thank you...I took a toned buffalo, photographed it, and with the magic of computers...colorized and airbrushed it. It was a labor of love, what can I say? This is from my very, very, small, creative side. I have this in a 15" (diameter) framed in my office. Being from Buffalo, it sure is an converation starter and sometimes my ears zero in on, "So...you collect coins?" Here is a larger view. My "artist" signature in on the far right leg. I am working on the three coins ala Andy Warhol style. I am NOT giving up my day job...just relaxing.
