I wonder how long it will be before I get my e-bay nasty gram for this message I left on e-bay forum. I replied to another message in a thread I started noting the persons compaint regarding SGS Grading but I found their positive feedback left for Aboncom.

I understand e-bay's unwillingness to do something about Aboncom because of the MONEY they generate for e-bay. They won't even enforce their own code of conduct and rules upon this seller. They don't have to eliminate them from selling just make them comply with their rules. But from what we've seen it's us who get the letter's from e-bay and get kicked out of the forum and be made to sit in the corner.

Here is a copy of my post that will probably get deleted.

Were you a newbie when you made this purchase? Just wondering. Did you actually get an MS70 as the feedback reflects?

Or was it given noting the sellers retaliatory neg's to any thing other than a pos?

NOT criticizing you here as many new buyers can't afford neg feedbacks.

A major concern I have is the seller's comparison (claim) of their grade to that of PCGS as to the coins possible greater value.

"Comparable coin grading services (such as PCGS) list an individual 1983 P MS67 WASHINGTON QUARTER at $300!! But this isn't MS67, this is a MS70!!!"

The language here suggest that their grading is "COMPARABLE" to that of PCGS! I think we all know what kind of nonsense that is.

That whole statement is problematic and in my opinion a problem with this paragraph of e-bay's "Code of Conduct" for Selling Coins & Paper Money on eBay ...

    • Sellers agree not to knowingly participate in any way in the advertisement, sale or trade of any numismatic material using any deceptive practices including, but not limited to, false or misleading claims of sales scarcity, value, condition or investment potential.

Take care and keep spreading the word!

Couldn't there be legality issues here? I mean they are definatly leading people to believe that they are buyin ms-70 or pr-70 coins. I think I might just call my lawyer and find out what the dealio is:confused:

Looking at that guys feedback, it looks like there are thousands of people that bought misrepresented coins:kewl:

The link search you've use is very limiting. Here's a better link.

    http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...trv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&seller=1&sass=aboncom

This link brings up about 770+ SGS MS70 auctions try some of the photos in those.

There we go. I just looked at the first one I saw, a 1944-D quarter. I mean I'm thinking about about buying some of these coins and talking them to a coin store or the pcgs or one of those reputable guys, and see how the thing actually grades.

    gulfofmex,

Don't waste your money or your time. Just do some more reading here on the forum by doing a search using the letters...

    SGS

As far as sending SGS coins to better TPG'ers it's already been done. Check out this on e-bay's forum.

First you'll most likely pay an inflated price for the coin then pay more to have it properly graded at a much lower grade than you might expect.

Otherwise enjoy yourself. It's your money! :headbang:

Throughout my six years coin collecting, i've always had one personal policy not to buy cleaned coins, no matter what. Now, after reading all the stuff on SGS on this forum I am going to add not buying SGS coins to that list. Thanks, guys.
