Started a new thread to post a few pictures I was talking to jay about. And here are 2 more 1960 D's that came on top of each other. Just rather get eyes on them so I don't miss anything. The 84 D is something I was asking jay about. Didny know if this had multiple rpms. Coin looks indented at mm and it looks like rpm out of every side of the existing D. Or I'm seeing things again. Woohoo.
I'm not seeing anything off about the 1960Ds, but the mint mark does look a little "funny" on the 1984D, not sure if it amounts to anything though.
Can't tell 100% on the '84-D due to images being pixelated, but I bet it's split playing around the D. That '60-D with the dark splotch on the tie is an RPM. I just gotta find it.
Rick, I looked through Variety Vista & all 180+ at Coppercoins. I don't see any that look like it. I'm either wrong, or it isn't listed. If you can, when you have time, soak it in pure acetone overnight & take another image with the light source coming from the bottom. Just want to make sure there isn't something hidden in the shadows. The bottom serif looks too thick not to have a split, but it could be shadows. Also, the top "split" could be gunk. The acetone bath could prove its nothing. Sure looks like a D with D northeast though. For the image, just do like normal, but rotate the coin 180 degrees. I cropped and rotated your image.
I haven't used mineral oil but a lot of Lincolns collectors do I think. I only use acetone. Pure acetone now, not nail polish remover. It will get some of the gunk off. It won't touch vergi gris (greenish/blue stuff), but it will not harm the surface of a Lincoln in any way. I use a larger plastic bag from the jewelry making department at Wal-Mart. You can put a little acetone in and shake the crap out of it. They look like the image below. Mineral oil & tooth pick should work though.
What did that coin look like prior to cleaning and I don't see where they marked the slab as cleaned coin so that's a good sign.
Rofl! No Rick, I was just showing a comparison for the bag size. But, as I said before, acetone doesn't harm the surface in any way so it wouldn't come back as cleaned.
See I have some good moments. I thought you were trying to show an example of what acetone would do. I was like Damn. Every one is going to have red coins now. Ha. I got ya though. Thanks.
