I just got 7 consecutive 2006 series $20 notes all in MS condition. Not one fold, tear, or wrinkle. The serials are:

    II 49144609 A
    II 49144610 A
    II 49144611 A
    II 49144612 A
    II 49144613 A
    II 49144614 A
    II 49144615 A

Is their any value to these notes? Could I make some money by selling them on eBay or on CoinTalk open section? Should I just spend them?

Unless it is a rare block issue, which I do not think it is, I would save one or two for years down the road and spend the others. To new for any added premium at the moment.

If the little number at upper right is in a larger font size than the little number at lower left, then they're a new variety that might interest somebody. The Treasury's just started using some new presses, and the enlarged plate number at the right is being used to identify the notes from them.

If you *do* have the notes from the new presses, please do let us know what the plate numbers (both front and back) are; some folks are trying to compile this information. The variety might increase your chances of making a small profit on the notes, too, as they're still hard to come by in some areas of the country....

The font is the same, and so is the bottom left letter number combo (F3), but on the top right the numbers are different. Also, below the top left serial number is I9, what does that mean?

    Thanks for your help.

check the size of the text in the upper right corner.... if the etxt size is larger then the text on a different $20 ... then let numbers know.

If you arent sure, post an image of one of the consecutive $20's, and then post the pics of a different $20 :) we might be able to help you there... maybe :p

The F3 at the bottom is the plate position, showing where the note was located on its original sheet. The number at the top right is the face plate number, identifying the particular printing plate that printed the front side of this note. The I9 is the district code; this note was printed for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, the Ninth District.

This is pretty interesting, I did not know that. Can you Numbers or DJ provide a link to where infomation like this is published? I for one would appreciate it very much.

    Thanks...

The bit about the $20's from the new presses is pretty recent, so I don't think it'll be in any of the books for a while. Coin World ran a short article about a month ago, and the latest Bank Note Reporter has a letter to the editor reporting recent finds. Many areas of the country don't seem to have received any of these new $20's yet, so depending on where you are you may have trouble pulling them from circulation.

These are the new super-intaglio presses that'll eventually be printing 50-subject sheets. But unlike the past few sheet-size upgrades, this time the new presses are also capable of handling the old sheets. So at the moment everything's still being printed in 32-subject form, with both the new and old presses working side-by-side, which is why the BEP needs the different-size plate numbers to keep track of what came from where. Once all the new presses are installed and 50-subject printing commences, who knows whether the plate numbers will go back to normal....
