I ask the service desk clerk for halves; I have gotten 40% and 90%; this is the first NIFC I have received.

 

FYI - 2021s are not NIFC.
The mint released them into normal circulation this year. Probably to help with the coin shortage. I got 6-8 solid boxes of them a month or so back.

 

Thanks for the info, my reading was anything after 2002 was an NFIC.

 

And all the pages saying that were right until this year.

 

I think all halves and dollar coins were Not Intended For Circulation. LOL

 

There have been several articles about this in the numismatic press. It indeed was to help with the coin shortage.

 

Yup. I started getting solid boxes before the article came out. Did a quick search on the mint's production website and saw that they had ramped up production significantly.

 

They don’t circulate in my area.
